Shruthi Raman is Counsel at Loopstra Nixon LLP, practising in the area of estates and trust law. Her practice encompasses all aspects of trust and estate work including wills and trust planning, incapacity planning, estate litigation and administration.
Shruthi advises clients from all walks of life to prepare estate and incapacity plans, including professionals, business owners and their families, elderly persons and families with young beneficiaries or those with special needs. She advises executors, trustees and powers of attorney regarding their legal and fiduciary obligations in the management and administration of trusts or estates. She is frequently consulted and retained by beneficiaries and trustees alike to bring or defend claims involving trusts and estates.
Shruthi is admitted to the Law Society of Ontario(2012) and the Bar Council of New Delhi, India (2006). She is also a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and holds the internationally recognized TEP designation.
Shruthi is active in the South Asian community in the Greater Toronto Area and regularly helps foreign-trained lawyers with the accreditation process and transitioning into the practice of law in Ontario. She is fluent in Tamil and Hindi, conversant in Urdu and Punjabi, and well-equipped to serve the needs of clients from diverse backgrounds with cost-effective solutions. In her spare time, Shruthi enjoys a variety of music, movies, reading, travelling and experimenting with different cuisines.
