Jacob Yau

Jacob is a Partner in Dentons’ Tax group based in the Firm’s Toronto office. He maintains a mixed practice involving tax litigation and tax controversy, as well as corporate tax advisory, tax planning, and business structuring.

Jacob is an experienced litigator with extensive experience in tax litigation and tax controversy. He has argued before the Tax Court of Canada and the Federal Court of Appeal on matters ranging from income tax, excise tax, and the general anti-avoidance rule (GAAR), and has successful resolved numerous cases before trial. He has also argued before the Federal Court of Canada on judicial review applications and regularly advises clients with respect to voluntary disclosures, orders for rectification, tax compliance and audits, and objections and appeals.

In addition, Jacob maintains an active tax advisory practice and regularly advises both domestic and international clients with respect to income and indirect tax matters arising from mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, corporate finance transactions, and cross-border transactions and international taxation.
