Course Description
Most professionals will need to deal with liability issues at some point in their career, whether on behalf of themselves or others. Michael and Malcolm will provide an update on such issues from a legal and insurance perspective, as well as useful tips to protect yourself, your practice and your reputation.

Malcolm D'Souza
[email protected]Malcolm D’Souza has over twenty five years of experience in resolving Accountants Errors and Omissions Claims. During that time, Malcolm has assisted over 10,000 accountants across Canada in resolving their claims.
In addition to his claims experience, Malcolm is a seasoned Risk Management Lecturer, currently teaming with CPA Canada, Provincial Bodies, Accounting Consortiums and medium sized CPA firms to provide ten to fifteen risk management seminars annually to groups ranging from fifty to three hundred professionals.
Malcolm was also a lecturer at the Schulich School of Business from 1996 to 2001 for both the undergraduate and graduate streams. During his tenure, Malcolm taught both financial accounting and managerial accounting.

[email protected]Michael Girard has been assisting accounts with advice and legal representation in litigation and discipline matters for more than 25 years. He has extensive experience dealing with financial statement claims, tax liability, fraud, privacy, insurance and professional ethics.
Michael graduated from the University of Windsor with a B.Sc. in mathematics and a law degree. He completed his masters degree in Civil Litigation and Dispute Resolution at Osgoode Hall.
Michael practiced as a partner at Hughes, Amys LLP for 19 years before setting up his boutique law practice, Girard Counsel, in 2004.
