Called to the Bar in 2007, Tyler is the Practice Group Leader for the Firm’s Real Estate, Wills and Estates Group and manages the Cohen Highley Kitchener office. In his own words:
“I am passionate about helping people – whether that’s buying or selling a house or apartment building, negotiating a commercial lease, implementing an estate plan, administering an estate, or starting a business. I enjoy working with people, making connections and becoming a trusted advisor to my clients and their businesses.”
Tyler has developed an impressive reputation of being an inspired problem solver. He considers many different approaches to help clients with their problems, and ultimately finds solutions that are creative, innovative, and effective.
Tyler works on many high-profile transactions, including recently closing the acquisition of a portfolio of apartment buildings for a client at a purchase price of $190M; but, he finds his work estate planning for parents with disabled children, advising small and medium businesses, and advising executors in the complexities of administering estates equally fulfilling.
Tyler was born in Ottawa and raised in Uxbridge, Ontario, leaving to attend Western University in 1999. In 2005, he graduated from the Richard Ivey School of Business with an Honours of Business Administration, with distinction, and in 2006 he obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) with a concentration in tax law. While at Western Law School, Tyler worked as the Director of Sport Solution, a free legal clinic for Canadian Amateur Athletes.
