Michelle Mondorf

Partner at Loopstra Nixon LLP

Michelle is a partner in the corporate and commercial practice group at Loopstra Nixon LLP, with experience in secured transactions, drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, and general corporate matters.

Michelle has acted as counsel to clients who operate in several different industries, including automotive, insurance, transportation, professional health services, financial services and manufacturing.

Before joining Loopstra Nixon in 2015, Michelle completed her articles at a well respected Toronto firm then became legal counsel for a privately held holding company with operations in a variety of industries including food and beverage, automotive, real estate and financial industries.

Michelle received an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree from Acadia University before earning her LL.B at the University of Windsor. She is a member of both the Canadian and Ontario Bar Association and the Law Society of Upper Canada.

Althea Yip

Partner at Loopstra Nixon LLP

Althea leads Loopstra Nixon’s Tax Advisory and Planning Group and is a member of the firm’s Business Law Practice Group.

As part of Althea’s tax practice, she works closely with businesses and individual clients to plan and implement customized tax strategies to accomplish various short- and long-term tax, operational, business and/or personal objectives. She regularly advises on corporate reorganizations and consolidations, share and/or asset transfers, management buy-outs, mergers and acquisitions, intergenerational transfers, trusts, private equity transactions, and domestic and international tax planning. In addition, Althea works alongside the firm’s wealth management and estate planning group help clients with succession and estate planning.

As part of Althea’s business law practice, she assists Canadian and international entrepreneurs and businesses (including start-ups, midmarket businesses, family businesses, and multinational private corporations) in a wide range of industries concerning strategic acquisitions, exit strategies, debt and equity financing, commercial contracts, corporate development and governance, regulatory compliance, risk management, corporate finance matters.

Althea graduated from the Juris Doctor (J.D.) / Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) joint degree program at Osgoode Hall Law School and the Schulich School of Business, York University. Prior to her post-graduate studies, Althea attended the University of Western Ontario's Health Sciences (Honours) Program, graduating with a double major in health sciences and philosophy.

She is licenced to practice law in Canada (Ontario) and the United States (New York). In addition, she has completed the In-Depth Tax Program at the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada).
