Course Description

This presentation, delivered by Sapling Financial Consultants, is designed to provide an introduction to the core components of developing financial models. The presentation will be split into five key components: (a) forecasting, (b) revenue & expense drivers, (c) modelling best practices, (d) company valuations & raising capital, and (e) modelling different companies. Sapling has compiled all of its learnings over the course of many years of financial modeling into this presentation, with the hopes of giving viewers key insights into the vital aspects of generating financial models. This presentation will be targeted at anyone with a basic understanding of finance and accounting, and is either looking to learn the fundamentals of financial modelling or build upon their finance skills to further their career.

Matthew Robertson

Matthew Robertson is a Consultant with professional work experience in financial modelling, financial analysis and financial operations. During his career, he has worked with diverse clients including startups, mid-market businesses and large enterprises. His industry experience spans companies in the consumer goods, agricultural, industrial & manufacturing, financial services and real estate sectors. In his professional and academic careers, Matthew obtained extensive financial modelling and data analysis skills. He has built complex models and insightful reports for clients across various industries. Matthew now undertakes engagements involving development of financial models for businesses and organizations to assist decisionmakers in their key decisions. Matthew’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University, as well as currently undergoing the Queen’s Master of Finance program.
