As Vice President, Estate Planning & Services, Akua provides customized estate planning guidance and estate administration solutions designed to meet desired planning goals and objectives.
Akua holds both a Bachelors of Laws degree (LL.B) and a Juris Doctor (J.D.). She was called to the Ontario Bar in 2006 and is a member of the Law Society of Ontario and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).
As a former sole practitioner and senior associate, Akua practised Estate Law and provided estate planning, administration and litigation services. Her estate planning experience includes, will and trust planning, incapacity and probate planning, charitable giving, and planning for special needs beneficiaries. Akua has worked with owner-managers, entrepreneurs, professionals, seniors and parents of young families. Additionally, she has advised executors, and trustees, and represented individuals in estate litigation matters. Akua’s many years of experience also include working in the wealth management and insurance industries.
Akua is a frequent speaker and presenter on estate and trust issues and has written articles as an Estate Law contributor for Advisors Edge. She is also the author of My Lifeprint, an estate planning manual and workbook. Akua has provided commentary for Globe Advisor articles (in the Globe and Mail) on estate matters and has appeared on local television to discuss wills and estates, estate planning for business owners, and powers of attorney. She is also fluent in French and Spanish.
